Test Request Ordering at the Bedside
Pathology orders can be made using PathRequest Mobile at the patient's bedside in just a few easy
steps:
Check for Recent Orders - View a List of Previously Requested Tests
- At the bedside, the caregiver scans their barcoded ID badge to give them access to the system.
- The caregiver scans the 2D barcoded patient wristband to identify the correct patient.
- At the PathRequest main menu, the caregiver selects the "Check for Recent Orders" function.
- PathRequest wirelessly queries the PathRequest Server for the patient's recent orders.
Request Tests - Order Tests and Print Sample Labels at the Patient's Bedside
- At the bedside, the caregiver scans their barcoded ID badge to give them access to the system.
- The caregiver scans the 2D barcoded patient wristband.
- At the PathRequest main menu, the caregiver selects the "Place New Orders" function.
- The caregiver is shown a list of the test panels, condition based ordering lists, or individual tests from which to select. The requesting physician and location is chosen and additional information such as patient risk, fasting status, etc. can also be entered. The order is then wirelessly sent to the laboratory.
- The caregiver can then choose to print the sample labels for collection now or complete the transaction and allow the samples to be collected later using PathCollect.
