PathCollect®
Sample Collection and Phlebotomy Management
The PathCollect application, used by nurses and phlebotomists at the patient's bedside, is
comprised of a number of different modules to ensure that the sample collection process
is electronically managed safely and efficiently.
Check Location - View List of Samples for Collection
- At the PathCollect main menu, the caregiver selects the "Check Locations" function.
- At the bedside, the caregiver scans their barcoded ID badge to give them access to the system.
- The caregiver selects a location and a list of patients requiring samples for collection is displayed.
- The caregiver can print this list for future reference.
Collect Samples - Printing Sample Labels at the Patient's Bedside
- At the PathCollect main menu, the caregiver selects the "Collect Samples" function.
- At the bedside, the caregiver scans their barcoded ID badge to give them access to the system.
- The caregiver scans the 2D barcoded patient wristband.
- The caregiver is shown a list of the sample types that need to be collected. The caregiver can then indicate which ones were collected.
- The caregiver connects the mobile printer and prints only the labels for tubes that have been collected. A message is also sent to PathCollect Server confirming that the samples have been collected.
