LacTrack® SafeLx
Mother's Milk Management System

The SafeLx system improves patient safety and nursing efficiency at the bedside by:

• Providing positive identification of each baby from sample collection to feeding
• Ensuring that all milk bottles and vials are labeled correctly
• Enabling electronic bedside ordering of Mother's milk, formula and additives
• Checking that the right milk is at the baby's bedside before starting the feeding
• Eliminating all bedside paper work and transcription errors as the handheld (PDA) collects all necessary feeding information electronically
• Establishing an audit trail

Using AutoPPI, each patient can be identified by the barcoded information printed on a wristband. This ensures positive identification of each and every patient before feeding, thus eliminating near-misses and errors relating to patient identification. SafeLx captures patient information by scanning their wristbands. Both machine and human readable patient information are then printed on the milk labels. This saves time and eliminates transcription errors. LacTrack ensures the Mother's milk, formula and additive ordering process is clear and complete by stepping the caregiver through easy-to-use ordering screens. No more incomplete or illegible orders. This accurate order information is electronically checked against the patient information on the collection bottle to ensure the order is filled correctly. LacTrack electronically matches the patient's barcoded wristband information and the barcoded label on the feeding vial before starting the feeding process to ensure the milk is right for the patient. This is all done by a handheld device at the baby's bedside. LacTrack electronically records and produces printed report labels at the bedside including:

• Baby ID number, last name, first name (identifier), date of birth, gender
• Caregiver ID
• Handheld ID
• Time and date of every interaction including collection, order, preparation and feeding
• Unique milk bottle number created by LacTrack
• Order information including Mother's milk volume, additives, fortifiers, formula
• Volume of milk fed and aspirated

Using 1D and/or 2D barcodes, inputting patient and caregiver information has never been easier. SafeLx guides and prompts the caregiver in a step-by-step manner to ensure all required information are entered.
