LacTrack® Preparation
Milk Preparation and Verification
LacTrack Preparation is the ultimate nursing tool for the verification and tracking of
the milk preparation process.
LacTrack Preparation will warn the caregiver in the following cases:
Component Verification
The nurse preparing the milk uses LacTrack Preparation to verify that the
right milk products are being mixed for the right baby. To prepare the feeding vial
upon receipt of the barcoded electronic order (created using
LacTrack SafeLx), the nurse:- Scans a valid caregiver ID to access the application
- Scans the SafeLx order label barcode
- Scans the mother's milk, formula, additive, donor milk label barcodes
LacTrack Preparation will warn the caregiver in the following cases:
- The mother's milk does not match the babies identification
- The mother's or donor's milk has expired
- The mother's milk, formula, additive, donor milk is not in the order
Print Feed Labels
After the verification process, the caregiver then
prints a label for the feeding vial which contains all the milk preparation information in
eye-readable and barcoded format. This label is then later scanned at the bedside
using LacTrack SafeLx to confirm a match between the baby
and the milk unit.
Electronic Audit Trail
All preparation information is recorded in a central database that can be later
accessed using LacTrack Manager. Some of the
information recorded includes:- Caregiver who prepared the milk
- Time and date of preparation
- Baby's identification
- List of products (incl unit numbers) prepared
- Order information
- Any errors or discrepencies
