Blood Management Beyond the Blood Bank
Using BloodTrack Courier, the Blood Bank can securely "lock down" blood units stored in refrigerators outside the blood bank and ensure that they are accessed by only authorized staff. BloodTrack Courier also records a detailed audit
trail necessary to meet all regulatory requirements and more importantly that expired,
incompatible, or improperly stored milk products never reach the patient's bedside.
With BloodTrack Courier, blood units are tracked and secured .
Example - Moving Blood Out of a Refrigerator
- Identify the user - Every user of BloodTrack Courier will have an identification code; usually a barcode attached to their identification badge. Simply put the badge under the scanner to log in.
- Choose In or Out - To place the units in the refrigerator, touch the "IN" picture; to take units out, touch the "OUT" picture.
- Choose the Transport Method - If you are removing blood, BloodTrack Courier may ask you your method of transport. Simply touch on the appropriate picture to indicate your choice. (Optional)
- Scan Patient Information - You can configure the system to request for patient information at this point, to confirm the blood unit is the correct one. Just scan the patient information from the request form (or Tx Pickup Slip) and BloodTrack Courier will check it for you. If there is blood available for the patient, Courier will unlock the fridge door.
- Scan Blood Units - Now pass the blood units under the barcode scanner. The scanner will read the donation number, the product type and the expiry date.
- Confirm Transaction - BloodTrack Courier will tell you if the blood unit is safe to use at this point. If there is a problem, there will be instructions on the screen for the user. BloodTrack Courier will lock the fridge door and wait for the next user.

Suite is built using state-of-the-art development tools and
technologies. It easily scales to work from the smallest hospital to the largest
multiple site health care provider. The system includes a comprehensive series of
reports, but each user can also directly connect to the Microsoft SQL Server database
and develop their own custom reports and queries. In addition, BloodTrack exchanges
information with the Blood Bank computer system in real time so that the Blood Bank
computer system also has the most up-to-date information for each blood unit.
