Simpler Safer Health Care
AutoTrack®
Laboratory Sample Routing
There are four main functions in the AutoTrack system:

- System Resources Set Up
- Sample Routing
- Sample Query
- Reports
System Resource Set Up
You can define your own shelves, locations, rack type, racks, analyzers and tests to
reflect your current system. An example is, sample 71532 is stored at the Pathology
Laboratory, on the top shelf, in a rack of 10 rows by 10 columns, that will be expired
in 10 days.
Sample Routing
AutoTrack automatically finds any outstanding tests ordered for each sample by
interfacing with your Laboratory Information System (LIS). You can choose to log the
testing events, or alternatively, store the sample.
Sample Query
Entering a sample identification number in the Query mode gives the location and history
of every sample matching that number. If the sample has been removed, it will show the
comment associated with the removal. The sample history will tell you if the sample is
awaiting testing. If the sample is in the system, you can also remove the samples at
this point, either singly or in a batch.
Reports
Three types of reports can be generated at any time in AutoTrack: expired racks;
removed samples; and samples for which storage was forced even though there are
outstanding tests. Every rack that has expired is included in the "Expired Rack" report,
along with the racks' expiry dates, status (empty, partially filled or full), and
location. You can empty all the expired racks at this stage. Every sample removed shows
a comment entered at the time of removal, helping to track the location of removed
samples. There is an option to return the sample if desired. Samples stored despite
having outstanding tests are put together in a report so when they are needed for
testing, you can find them and remove them easily.
